When your account is under risk control and the recovery review gets stuck, the most urgent thing is not the account itself but the open contract positions — prices keep moving, and forced liquidation won't wait for customer support to reply to your ticket. During risk control, closing positions is usually allowed. This is the only proactive window you have: close your positions first, then slowly deal with the platform's review.
You need to immediately confirm two things: the extent of the account restrictions, and whether you can still operate your positions.
Step 1: Determine the account restriction level — focus on "what you can do" rather than "why it was frozen"
Different risk control levels correspond to completely different available functions, directly affecting whether you can save your positions.
What to do: Log in to the app, try to enter the trading page, and see if you can access the "Positions and Assets" section. Completion standard: Confirm that you can still log in to the account and view position details.
According to the official explanation of exchanges, after the account is restricted by risk control, you may still be able to log in, check balances and transaction records, and importantly, close existing positions. In some cases, even spot/contract trading for BTC and ETH remains available, and closing or reducing positions is supported during risk control.
Risk reminder: Some users report that risk control review cycles can last up to 60 working days, during which customer service only sends templated replies with no progress updates or deadlines. If your account is in this situation, do not expect to "handle positions after the review passes" — prices don't wait. You must close positions first, then wait for the review.
Step 2: Execute position closing immediately — this is the only way to stop loss
After confirming you can still operate positions, do not hesitate. Close all leveraged positions right away.
What to do: Go to the "Positions and Assets" section on the trading page, choose market close all or set a price to close. If there are contract strategy orders, first stop all running strategies on the "Strategies" page, then cancel all pending orders, and finally close positions. Completion standard: The position list is empty, and the account no longer holds any open leveraged or contract positions.
Step 3: Assess whether to add margin — requires careful judgment
If the account still allows asset transfers, you can consider adding margin to push the liquidation price further away.
What to do: Try transferring USDT from your funding account to the contract account to see if it is restricted. Completion standard: If the transfer succeeds, the margin increases and the liquidation price moves in a safer direction; if the transfer fails, abandon this path.
Common mistake: Many people's first reaction after being risk-controlled is to "argue with customer service", spending hours wrangling over tickets, only to have their positions wiped out by a market move. Customer service will not pause the liquidation mechanism just because you are appealing; during risk control review, the position's profit/loss and maintenance margin are still calculated normally. Close positions first, then appeal. The order cannot be wrong.
Step 4: Submit review materials — cooperate with the platform's process
After positions are fully handled, deal with the account review.
What to do: Check your registered email or in-app banner notifications, complete the questionnaire or submit required documents as instructed. After submitting materials, follow up via the ticket center. If there is no update for more than 48 hours, contact support with your ticket number. Completion standard: The platform confirms receipt of materials and your account enters the review queue.
Verification after completing the operations
Go to the "Positions and Assets" page and make sure all position quantities show 0, and the list of unfilled orders is empty. If you previously held perpetual contract positions, confirm that funding fee accumulation has stopped. After completing these, continue to follow up on the account review progress through the ticket center.
