Some analyses show that Deribit gamma exposure represents only about 0.025% of daily trading volume, far below the 5%–10% threshold needed to significantly influence price. This suggests the Gamma Wall serves more as a short-term structural sentiment anchor rather than an absolute defense line, especially on days with ample liquidity.

Practical verification method

If you plan to trade using the Gamma Wall, the only reliable way to verify it is to check both total gamma exposure (GEX) and open interest (OI) distribution at the same time. One hour after settlement, compare the price action before delivery against the GEX data to see whether that strike actually produced resistance or support. If price sliced through the so-called wall with ease, it means the actual liquidity at that level was far lower than expected, and you should adjust your strategy immediately.
